Anupam Kumar Singh

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anupam Kumar Singh is an academician with 30+ years of experience in India and Abroad. He is working as Professor of Sustainability at NAMTECH (an education initiative of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India) at IIT Gandhinagar Research Park. As academic leader, he has been a member of Governing Body, Board of Management, Academic Council, Board of Studies of several Universities in India, and held leadership positions of Director Engineering & Technology, Dean Academics, Dean of Engineering Faculty, Dean of Research and Innovation incl. entrepreneurship & startup, Head of Department, Professor, as-well consultant for corporates. Prof Singh has been holding the position of Professor since last seventeen years and served on corporate boards of climate, infrastructure, geomatics and capacity building committees starting 2007. Spanning more than three-decades of professional career, Dr Singh has conducted several consulting assignments and capacity building programs funded by World Bank, European Union, Government of India, ISTE and Government of Gujarat for service engineers, industry professionals and academic fraternity.

Prof. Singh is conducting program evaluations for Indian Ministry of Higher Education as NBA evaluator and conducted accreditation of Tier-1 and Tier-2 affiliated and constituent institutions since 2017. He has acquaintance with NEP-2020 curriculum development, mapping of PSOs- POs- COs, faculty training, student mentoring, national startup and innovation guidelines, NBA, NAAC and NIRF accreditation frameworks aligned with accreditation standards.

Prof. Singh has received fellowships from DAAD-Germany, DFG-Germany, EPFL-Switzerland, GATE-India, NAUKA-Poland, NERC-UK, and MEXT-Japan during various professional stages. He was awarded with Indian Science Congress Association’s – Platinum Jubilee Lecture Award (in 2023), Institution of Engineers India- Prof Jai Krishna Memorial Lecture Award in Civil Engineering (in 2019), Indian Society of Technical Education – Best Engineering College Teacher Award for Gujarat State (in 2009), Institution of Engineers India (Rajasthan State Centre Jaipur)- Outstanding Engineering Service to Society award (in 2021), Dewang Mehta National Education Award (in 2018), Computer Society of India- Jaipur Chapter Star Ikon Award (in 2016), Institution of Engineers India- Gujarat State Centre Prof V J Joni Memorial Lecture Award (in 2013), Lions Club Jaipur- Excellent Service Award (in 2017), Association of Agro-meteorology best poster award (in 2008), Stockholm International Water Institute Sweden Best poster award (in 2002).

As researcher, Prof Singh has completed several external funded research projects from Germany- BMBF, BMZ, DFG, DAAD| from India- ISRO, DST, Ministry of Environment and Forest, KRIBHCO, Gujarat Council on Science and Technology, AICTE | from Sri Lanka- USAID; and Vietnam- DAAD. His research interests are in sustainability of water- wastewater, environment, building energy, urban and built-environment. Prof Singh together with co-authors has 90-publications in peer-reviewed Journals, Book chapters, Conferences, and Technical notes. He has been Associate Editor of International Journal of Water Resources and Environmental Management, reviewer for Journal of Hydrology, Journal of Hydrologic Science, Journal of Applied Hydrology, Journal of Agro-meteorology, Current Science, Journal of Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Journal of Geomatics and few more published by Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, and Science Direct.

He lives with his professor wife in Ahmedabad, and together they have two children: the elder working in information technology domain, while the younger studying bachelor’s in technology. Prof Singh’s hobbies are volunteering, nature & wildlife, hiking and traveling.

Research, academic and consulting interests are in sustainability, climate resilient, circularity and industrial decarbonization, focusing on water, infrastructure and urban built environment. Uses AI/ML, BIM, geospatial computing, simulation and optimization tools for solving problems in water, environment, infrastructure and urban built ecosystem.
