Dr. Rehman holds a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry, specialized training in Environmental Management from the University of Manchester/Birmingham, and a Doctorate from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. With over thirty-four years of experience in energy, environment, and sustainable development, he has a distinguished career in these fields.
Until April 2024, Dr. Rehman worked with VITO, a prominent Flemish government-owned, non-profit international organization. At VITO, he led operations for South Asia and India from the International Office and served as CEO of VITO Arabia LLC.
Previously, as a Senior Director at TERI, Dr. Rehman managed a team of researchers and implementers on major global initiatives, including the Lighting a Billion Lives Program in South Asia and Africa, and served as Lead Consultant for the UNDP Regional Energy Program for Poverty Reduction in Asia and the Asia Pacific. His work also included significant research and implementation programs in India, such as the Comprehensive Initiative for Biofuels, the DFID TERI Program on Energy Access, and evaluations of national biogas and cookstove programs.
Dr. Rehman is a co-author of several books and has published numerous scientific and policy papers in esteemed journals and magazines. His extensive career spans multiple regions, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
