About the program

India stands at the cusp of a semiconductor revolution, with an urgent need to develop its own high-tech manufacturing capabilities. As the world moves toward digitization and automation, semiconductors form the backbone of every modern innovation—from smartphones and smart grids to electric vehicles and aerospace systems. However, building chips is no ordinary feat. It requires a rare blend of engineering precision, hands-on expertise, and deep system understanding.

With the government’s push under the India Semiconductor Mission, and major investments pouring into chip manufacturing, the demand for skilled professionals is rising exponentially. Yet, India faces a critical shortage of trained semiconductor engineers. By 2026, India’s semiconductor industry is expected to generate over 1 million new roles, while the global semiconductor market is projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2030, driven by demand for AI, 5G, electric vehicles, and IoT. Recognizing this critical need, NAMTECH, an initiative by AM/NS India, has launched a pioneering program—the Professional Master’s Program (iPMP) in Semiconductor Manufacturing—designed to develop Day 1 industry-ready engineers who can lead India’s semiconductor journey.

The iPMP in Semiconductor Manufacturing is a one-year, fully residential program designed to equip engineers with practical skills in chip fabrication, advanced packaging, and semiconductor process optimization. The program is delivered in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) Germany (Asia Campus)- Singapore, the program blends academic excellence with hands-on training in cleanroom environments, backend processing, testing, and fabrication technologies.

Program OVERVIEW

The curriculum is meticulously designed across four trimesters, beginning with strong fundamentals in Trimester 1, covering semiconductor devices, backend processing, and testing. Trimester 2 advances into fabrication technology, yield engineering, and AI applications. Trimester 3 delves into optoelectronics, PCB manufacturing, and supply chain management, ensuring industry readiness. The program culminates in Trimester 4 with a hands-on Capstone Project, integrating real-world problem-solving with cutting-edge semiconductor innovations—all while building essential meta-skills throughout the journey.

Candidates who are in their final year (graduating in 2025) or have successfully completed their BE/BTech exams within the last five years (2020 onwards) are eligible to apply. A minimum of 65% marks or an equivalent grade in 10th, 12th, and BE/BTech is required for eligibility (All exams should have been cleared in first attempt with no backlog/ ATKT). Students from the following B.E./B.Tech branches, along with emerging specializations such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Automation, are invited to apply.

Scholarships

Scholarship of up to 100% on tuition fees are awarded based on academic performance, SOP, interview, and family income. Please note that seats are limited, and the final decision rests with the admissions & scholarships committee.

Featuring MIT’s 2.008, it offers hands-on training in product design, prototyping, and mass production. With industry collaboration and cutting-edge technologies, iPMP equips participants for global careers in advanced manufacturing.
Candidate with B.E/ B.
